Jacaranda :: They are native to Brazil, where they are deciduous; not because of cold winters, but because of the monsoonal wet and dry seasons. They briefly drop their leaves at the end of the dry season, then leaf up again when the rains come. The most common flower colour for jacarandas is the lovely purple-blue.
I am in love with these trees. They are in bloom everywhere I go. They bring me immense joy.

Waitomo Glowworm Caves are a famous tourist attraction because of the large population of fireflies that live in caves. Fireflies, or Arachnocampa luminosa - tiny bioluminescent creatures that produce blue and green light live exclusively in New Zealand.
